| Description |
This three-door armoire is a faithful rendering in solid French walnut of armoires with alternating diamond and rectangular panels, typically made of oak in the 16th century in northeastern France. The diamond panels or pointes de diamant were also particularly common in armoires and buffet cabinets referred to as Louis XIII in style. The beauty of the natural walnut is highlighted by the simplicity and symmetry of design of this piece, made approximately a half century ago. For other pieces with the diamond motif, see two-piece 1035 and buffet cabinet 9212. |
